Allen is not yet home but we got an information and we assumed that he is just fine.

However, the family would like to request the public to be patient with them and provide them the privacy that they are requesting for now.

We understand and we appreciate all the efforts, support, concern that everyone has put into this situation. Rest assured that all of these are greatly valued by his family and friends.

But as of this time, we cannot give more than what we have already stated so we request for you understanding and we would like to assure everyone that we will provide an update as soon as we get the official statement of the family.

In line with this, we are communicating to the public that the blog and the Facebook group page would be deactivated temporarily.

What really happened to Allen Pangilinan? The public sympathized and empathized with his family and friends. The public went out of their way to try to help. The public prayed for Allen’s safety. Now that Allen is confirmed alive and kicking, the public won’t be given a chance to know what really happened? How intriguing!

My opinion on the following theories:
1. Allen was kidnapped- Disagree. How affluent is his family? Kidnap-for-ransom syndicates work quietly and hate publicity. If Allen was kidnapped, his family and friends wouldn’t ask for the public’s help to spread the info about his disappearance.

2. Allen went abroad to celebrate after passing his SAP certification exam. -Disagree. Three ATM withdrawals after the disappearance? Is it possible to use BPI ATM cards abroad?

3. Allen ran away. – Possible. Who knows, he has personal issues that even his family is not aware of? Maybe, he was just trying to cool off elsewhere.

4. The Allen Pangilinan case is just a hoax.- Possible. It could be a social experiment like what they did to Tintin and Julius Babao’s daughter. A group of people wanted to know how the public would react to the little girl’s “death story.” Obviously, the couple was hurt and mad about the whole social experiment thing. If Allen’s case is just a social experiment, then who could be the people behind this?

I chanced upon http://www.helpfindallen.blogspot.com/ on Pinoy Exchange last Saturday, February 13, 2010. I checked the updates this morning and I’m disappointed and saddened that this young man is still missing for reasons that even his family could not decipher.

How could a sensitive young man just disappear without apparent trace? Nobody seemed to see him on the night that he disappeared; not a taxi driver, not a co-worker, not a police officer, not a stranger. According to his close friends, it is very un-Allen if he would just run away without informing his family or rather if he would put his family into deep worries. His mom has heart problems; a good son won’t bring troubles to his ailing parent.

I talked about Allen (who’s so much of a stranger to me) with my husband last night. Something about his disappearance just keeps bugging me. Are we safe in our daily route to and from work or school? Can we trust the people around us?

Allen and I are total strangers from each other and we don’t live on the same neighborhood. The least that I can do is to spread http://www.helpfindallen.blogspot.com/ so that people may be aware that Allen is missing.

I feel bad when people dear to me lose
connection with me. I know that even the greatest
relationship can be strained due to a lot of reasons
like distance, lack of communication and shifting
interests.

Somebody wrote that people come to our life for
a reason, a season and a lifetime and that we should
be grateful that they came to our life whether
it’s for a reason, a season and a lifetime.

Instead of feeling bad about some friends who no
longer want my connection, I am grateful that they
were there during the lowest point in my life. It’s
time to move on and make new friends that will
hopefully be there with me for a lifetime.

A year ago and randomly, I thought of Ala Paredes. She’s the daughter of one of APO Hiking Society’s singer, Jim Paredes. Just very randomly, I asked myself where this pretty and curly-haired young lady is. From what I remember, she used to be a MTV VJ and an endorser of a shampoo brand. I used to read her blogs, too at her personal website.

I didn’t expect that I would see her on TV last night. According to the news, the 26 year-old lady is just on vacation from Sydney, Australia. Twenty-six? Time flies so fast, indeed. No, she’s not in town to shoot for another shampoo commercial. She’s not in town to endorse a political candidate. She is in town because a judge(?)-friend asked her to be the sketch artist of the Ampatuan trial.

Ala probably wants to embark on a career in the Philippines but from what I expect of her, she could be an effective talk show host like my idol Ms. Daphne Oseña-Paez. (Daphne broke my heart when she left Proudly Filipina. =[ )
Maguindanao Massacre On DVD

Gross! That’s how I feel about it. It is reported that some DVD vendors are selling the Maguindanao Massacre for PhP100. It reportedly contains the burying of the victims’ cadaver. Who exactly videotaped the incident and how the DVD leaked is still a puzzle. I can understand the evilness of the one who videotaped it as he is (and all the rest who participated in the killing) Satan incarnated. From the start, we know how they are capable of hurting and killing people. What I do not understand is how some people, the vendors and suppliers, are making profit at other people’s misery. These people, (the victims of the massacre), were harassed, tortured, mutilated, maybe even raped and murdered much worse than an animal. These suppliers and vendors are not empathic with the victims’ family. Then they would claim that they are just making money to earn a living? Oh, well…making money at other people’s misery.

If you are calorie-conscious like me, I am sharing with you the attachment that I downloaded from the net several years back.

On December 10, my baby boy will turn three months. That means that next week would be my third postpartum month! While I am among the very few mothers who didn’t gain too much weight during my pregnancy, I belong to the several many who find it hard to resume to our pre-pregnancy figure. Oh, don’t get me wrong that I have the same body type as Nicole Kidman or our local Aubrey Miles who were able to lose several pounds after giving birth. Nicole was said to be back to her pre-pregnancy figure two weeks after giving birth. As for Aubrey, she was proudly parading her post-pregnancy body during a lingerie modelling show some two months ago. If these women were able to shed several post-pregnancy pounds in less than a year, then why can’t the “several many” do the same?

I made a commitment to myself that I’m going to bring back my college days figure. It’s depressing to hear from college acquaintances that I’ve grown big. An old college friend told me not to mind those insensitive people.

“You’re not that big. You were just anorexic in college,” she would say.

Yeah, I was underweight in college. Blame that to those skinny fashion models! Lol!

I know in my heart that I could never bring back my old college figure. I gained weight after college and fortunately,
I didn’t gain a lot of weight during my second pregnancy. I’ll just have to change my idea of “how thin is thin and how fat is fat” and adapt it to my age.

Maguindanao Massacre
Gruesome headline. It projects an image of a backward civilization.

Since last Monday’s (November 23) massacre, I’ve been surfing the internet for more facts and details about the Mangudadatus and the Ampatuans. I learned that they used to be allies. When we speak of allies, I hope it does not mean that the Mangudadatus supported the Ampatuans wicked activities. One article says that the Mangudadatus are warlords themselves. I hope that the Maguindanao massacre is not some sort of karma as I condemn political killings.

Mindanao is called “The Land of Promise.” But is it really promising? Mindanao’s lands are fertile; the perfect land for agriculture. Its seas are said to be perfect for fishing and tourism. I grew up with an impression that Mindanao is not a peaceful place. Its problems are more political than socio-economical.

How many Abu Sayaffs do we have and why can’t our military forces pin them down? It leads me to think that we tolerate these terrorists because there is business in war. There’s big money involved. And maybe, there are some big families in Mindanao that conspire with this group.

The MNLF and the MILF, in my opinion, do not regard themselves as Filipinos.
“We are Muslim,” they would say but never “We are Filipino.”
Does it mean that being a Muslim give them an authority to ask for an independent Mindanao?

Is there hope in Mindanao?
