• Karylle, Dingdong and Marian

    November 10, 2008
    That’s Entertainment

Whoa! More and more people are getting interested in the most controversial break up in 2008: the Karylle and Dingdong split up. But who is really telling the truth? Who is still hurting? Who initiated the split up? Who caused the split up? What caused the split up? What is reel and what is real?

Is it just coincidental when Karylle and Dingdong’s break up rumor spreaded at least three weeks before the playdate of “One True Love?” Could this be gimmick? Does the sensational love team need gimmick, by the way? No doubt, Marian and Dingdong’s love team is selling like hotcakes so there’s no need for an additional spice. My analysis: the break up is NO gimmick!

At the height of the Marimar fever, a reporter asked Dingdong if he knows where Karylle is at the moment. The actor simply said “I don’t know!” Of course, Marimar fans were delighted at the response! The actor seemed not to care about his real love in favor of his reel love! What a reply, isn’t it? My analysis: Karylle and Dingdong’s relationship was never been so good. It was just our perception. We were just taken for a ride.

I was one of the many showbiz kibitzers who rejoiced when Marian was chosen to play the role of Marimar. The girl got the talent, the body and the face to boot! Fans didn’t care whether she really had a secret boyfriend. (Now we knew she broke up with longtime boyfriend, Ervic.) Her chemistry with Dingdong is physically intense; both of them have Spanish features and it just gave them the advantage. Undoubtedly, Marian’s time has come. She’s now GMA-7’s “it girl” and I think the girl deserves it. But news of her becoming a swellhead disillusioned some of her fans (to the delight of pro-Angel fans!) Her verbal confrontation with a Zambales local during the taping of Dyesebel hurt her sweet image. After that, she was repackaged as a Caviteña fighter: walang makaaapi. The question is, is she really api? Prior to the break up rumor, Marian was quoted as saying “Hindi mahirap mahalin si Dong.” Pampakilig lang ba yan sa fans nyo, Marian? My analysis: yes, it was just a pampakilig to the fans. At that time, Marian probably was not yet aware of the seriousness and gravity of Karylle and Dingdong’s break up. Nakisawsaw para pakiligin ang fans, kumbaga. Little did she knew that that statement could put her in trouble. Notice that Marian was defensive now than when the rumor (break up) was just starting to spread. Nadamay lang itong babaeng ito. Nagpakilig pa kasi!

Karylle finds it hard to move on, instead, she calls it “moving forward.” The lady is still in pain. The lady is crying in silence. My analysis: it was Dingdong who initiated the break up. Notice how relaxed Dingdong is as compared to Karylle. It’s difficult to move on after the break up if it wasn’t you who initiated it. Karylle’s transfer to ABS-CBN could make or break her career. But does a bleeding heart care about the consequences of her decision? She could be ABS-CBN’s next big asset. The first thing that she should do once she starts reporting to ABS-CBN is to keep her silence about the break up. Talking about her ex who’s on the rival network is a big no-no. It could boomerang on her. So please, keep your silence, dear!

Dingdong’s sudden change of heart is not really sudden. As he said, their break up is a result of a long process. He didn’t elaborate more about the “long process.” Long process of what? My analysis: his sudden rise to fame shifted his priorities from settling down to maximizing his career. He’s now 27 or 28 and Karylle is probably asking him about their future plans. Yeah, there could be some slight professional rivalry or relationship insecurity on Karylle’s part and maybe, she’s not really bent on asking Dingdong to marry her next year but a change in either or both of a partner’s lifestyle and focus is REALLY a big factor in any committed relationship.

  • You Look Wonderful Tonight

    Life & Love

I’m listening to “Wonderful Tonight.”  Wonderful Tonight

I’m reminiscing my ex, the father of my child.

He’s a handsome young man, a college classmate and my first love.

He loved to party, just like me.

The lyrics was about me and him and our partying days in college.

He was a good dancer. I was just a spectator.

He loved the limelight. I loved the farthest corner of the ballroom.

Baguio was still at its romantic glory some 13 years ago.

I loved to drink coffee at home after the party while feeling the cold air on my skin.

We had the best and the worst of time.

And partying was one of our best times together.

  • Breastfeeding Is Still Best For Babies but…..

    November 5, 2008
    Wedding & Family Life

Breastfeeding is still best and will always be best for babies but please, have a little privacy in feeding your child! It’s not that I’m sexually stimulated by the sight of breast hanging out from a mother’s blouse. I just hate to see mothers, especially young and attractive mothers, breastfeeding her child and exposing her breast to everyone. I know it’s not public exhibition and I understand the logic that the woman is just feeding her chid. But breasts are still sexual objects and there are people who are naturally pervert! Sure, he wouldn’t probably attack the breastfeeding mom but he could also divert his sexual desire on someone.

Cover your breasts, please! Or make the breastfeeding discreet. We don’t need to see you feeding your baby; that doesn’t make you a better mom than those who are not breastfeeding.

  • Ale, nasa langit na ba ako?

    November 5, 2008
    That’s Entertainment

Whenever I hear this song, I can’t help but think of Luis Manzano and Anne Curtis, especially imagining them in an MTV version of it. The song itself already tells a cinematic story, but in my mind, their personalities and chemistry make it even more vivid.

    Isang araw, nagmamaneho sa Cubao
Aking nakita, babaeng saksakan ng ganda

One day, while driving in Cubao, Luis spots a stunningly beautiful woman—Anne Curtis—cruising in a sporty car. Mesmerized, he follows her, only to lose sight of her and end up crashing into another vehicle.

Sinundan ko ang kotseng sinasakyan niya
Hindi ko nakitang may dumarating pala
Hindi ko naiwasan, kami biglang nagkabangaan

When he regains consciousness, he’s already in the hospital, being attended by a beautiful nurse—again, played by Anne.

At this point, Luis mistakes the nurse for an angel. Still delirious, he blurts out his now-famous line:

Ale, nasa langit na ba ako?
Mama, kayo po ba si San Pedro?
Ok lang sa akin kung ako’y dedbol na
Basta’t ikaw ang lagi kong kasama
Kaya ale, nasa langit na nga ako

He eventually asks the nurse to marry him—only to find out that she’s already married.

At paglabas ko, niyaya ko na siyang pakasal
Tinanggihan niya, at ang sabi may asawa na siya

Heartbroken, distracted, and emotional, he ends up in another accident, falling down the stairs and knocking his head hard on the cement.

    Dinamdam kong masyado’ng sinabi niya
Hindi ko nakita, hagdan ubos na
Ako ay nahulog, sa semento ulo ko’y nauntog

Once again, he wakes up in the hospital—this time attended by yet another nurse, still resembling Anne but with a new personality. Before getting his hopes up, he carefully asks if she’s married. When she says no, his heart leaps, and the chorus returns.

This third version of Anne combines the sporty, demure, and playful traits of the previous ones—making her the perfect match for Luis. Their personalities blend effortlessly: both funny, charming, articulate, and undeniably attractive.

Luis’s playful and spontaneous nature complements Anne’s carefree, flexible, and bubbly personality. The chemistry feels natural and believable, which is why I genuinely wish they would make an MTV version of this song. I can already imagine how entertaining—and kilig—it would be.

  • The Dingdong and Karylle Break-Up

    October 30, 2008
    That’s Entertainment

This article from PEP made me sad. http://www.pep.ph/news/19720/Confirmed:-Dingdong-and-Karylle-breakup;-Denied:-Marian-as-third-party/1

I am a fan of Dingdong Dantes since his struggling years in showbiz. I was a teener when I hoped that he and Antoinette Taus would end up with each other. They were the hottest love team of their time with Polo Ravales and Sunshine Dizon and Kim Delos Santos and Dino Guevarra as contemporaries. Antoinette left the Philippines for her Holywood dream that never materialized that is why Dingdong was paired with Tanya Garcia who is now Mark Lapid’s common-law wife.

The Dingdong-Tanya loveteam did not sell well though they made a couple of teleserye for GMA. Dingdong was even paired with Judy Ann Santos in “Magkapatid.”

Newcomer Iza Calzado, who started as Sunshine Dizon’s villain in “Kung Mawawala Ka” was Dingdong’s next TV love team after Tanya though he was paired with Karylle in “Love to One.” Karylle was never identified to be Dingdong’s love team. It was during their Love to Love days when rumors spreaded about Antoinette and Dingdong’s break up. Antoinette chose to keep mum about it. From what I remember, Karylle wouldn’t even tell when she and Dingdong became an item. Could it be because she was the third party?

A Dingdong fan that I’ve always been, I accepted Karylle as Dingdong’s new love. I realized that she was a nice girl: pretty and educated. One thing that I’ve always noticed is Dingdong’s lack of sweetness towards her. It was like a one-sided relationship: Karylle was more in love with Dingdong than he was with her. Maybe he was not really showy of his emotions. He wasn’t sweet with love team Iza Calzado, too. He wouldn’t put on fake gestures just to win his fans’ heart.

But when Marian Rivera came to the picture as his newest love team, he was very sweet to her. Surely, the attraction was intense. Fans could see it. Who wouldn’t be attracted on Marian, anyway? She has an attitude, yes. But stars really have an attitude. She wasn’t loud when she was just starting, was she?

We couldn’t put the blame on Marian alone if it’s true that she’s the third party behind the break up. After all, even the prettiest of all women cannot break a relationship founded on TRUE love. Maybe what Dingdong and Karylle had was infatuation. Maybe Karylle was really more in love with Dingdong than he was with her.

The news saddened me. But who am I to get really involved? I am just Dingdong’s fan. No more and no less.

  • Herbalife

    October 28, 2008
    Health & Beauty

My officemate sold me a 550 g. of choco-flavoured Herbalife that costs PhP 1,300. She probably heard about my 2009 wedding that is why she capitalized on that. I was never into stringent dieting though I tried Atkins diet for a time. And oh, the acetone breath! It was my worst diet program.

I categorize myself as someone who’s on the meaty side, some friends say I’m on the voluptous side. I don’t have the anorexic look of a starving fashion model. Neither do I look like an oversize model! I think, that’s it: voluptous!

I don’t eat much. Problem is, I have a sedentary lifestyle. I am not athletic. I don’t even work at home. I just consume my time sitting in front of my PC the whole office hours. My bad!

But I love to walk! I can walk the whole day and not make a big issue out of it! Walking is a good exercise. Brisk walking is even better!

Now, back to Herbalife. It acts as a food supplement so starting November 1, I intend not to eat solid foods during breakfast and supper. PhP 1,300 per pay day is not cheap! I need to do my part.

Miel doesn’t want me to lose weight by starving. I told him that I’ll just give Herbalife a try.

    🙂

  • I So Love Bagoong!

    October 22, 2008
    Career, Finance & Product

I ate supper with Miel. We had kare-kare on the table. The bagoong na alamang made our kare-kare more delicious. I put some vinegar on the bagoong to remove the “fishy” smell. Oh, by the way, I’m a big fan of bagoong! I could eat bagoong and rice for a week! Hahaha!

My ex-boyfriend cooks his dishes with a tablespoon of bagoong instead of salt or fish sauce. You should taste his beef stew with bagoong. Well, I can go away with eggplant and bagoong, camote tops and bagoong, ladyfinger and bagoong and all sorts of vegetables basta may bagoong!

Can you eat an apple with bagoong? I bet you’d puke! I eat star apple with bagoong, guava with bagoong, ripe or green mango with bagoong, banana with bagoong, camias with bagoong and pineapple with bagoong. Hmmmmm….mouth-watering!

Some people refer to it as anchovy. Some says that it’s shrimp/fish paste. Why not just call it as it is; bagoong? If the Koreans don’t translate their kimchi to cabbage appetizer, then why can’t we just leave bagoong as it is?
