• Is That George?

This Sensodyne commercial is old (try to find it in youtube, dears!) and I wonder if this Dr. Georgia Revilla is the Georgia Escalante that everybody in Tdel knows (well, if you studied in Tdel in the early 90’s, you should know!)

If she really is Georgia, then it’s good to know that she’s still active in making TV commercials. Yeah, this commercial is way back two years ago; my point is, George has been making commercials since college and it’s good to see her still active despite her new profession and civil status.

George, it’s good to see you still fresh and beautiful. You have maintained your schoolgirl charm through the years. =)

  • I Caught A Firefly Last Night

    December 4, 2010
    Life & Love

Living in the countryside gives me the opportunity to take advantage of nature. Husband and I went to check our workers at our chicharon kitchen which is located at a subdivision which is under development. Both of us were tired from work and we felt that we needed more time management between work and managing our small business. I complained that I always felt robbed of my quality time with the kids and he hinted that he was more pressured to make the business work than me. In the end, both of us were apologetic and agreed that starting up a business requires hard work and patience.

He went inside the kitchen while I waited outside. I was amazed at the number of fireflies flying in the field. I even caught one and thought to bring it home but I changed my mind and freed it.

I can’t imagine myself working in the busy streets of Makati or Ortigas. It’s not that I am not used to live in the big city but I’m fine living and working in the countryside.

  • Vizconde Massacre: Random Memories

    December 3, 2010
    Filipino Culture

Considered to be one of the sensational crimes our country has ever experienced, the Vizconde massacre will continue to make history on the generations to come. And why not? The accused and now convicted rapists-murderers are members of prominent families in Metro Manila with Hubert Webb as the biggest fish of them all. Time is indeed very fast. I was a young girl when this heinous crime happened. It was the headline in People’s Journal then. There were pictures of Carmela, Jennifer and their mom on the front page. Carmela was very pretty. Jennifer was cute. Their mom looked regal. The family was upper middle class.

For someone as young, beautiful and promising as Carmela, someone as lovable as Jennifer and someone as full of life as Mrs. Vizconde, the nation felt a great loss and mourned with Mr. Lauro Vizconde. The first batch of suspects were members of the notorious Akyat-Bahay Gang. I think even Carmela’s boyfriend was invited for some interrogations.

I cannot exactly remember how Hubert Webb came into the picture and how Jessica Alfaro finally spoke up and became the star witness. All I knew was there were great personalities at that time who testified that Hubert was in the States at the time the crime supposedly happened.

Then there was a face off between Mr. Lauro Vizconde and Mr. Freddie Webb about the massacre issue. Was it in Che Che Lazaro’s show? Ah, correct me if I’m wrong, dear readers! Mr. Lauro despite the pain, managed to keep his cool during the face off. Mr. Freddie appeared sympathetic to Mr. Lauro but was so sure that his son could never be the rapist/murderer. The tale of two fathers from opposite perspectives.

It was the trial of the decade and Erap was the president when Hubert and company were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. The judge gave more weight to Jessica Alfaro’s statement versus the records presented by Hubert’s camp that proved that he was in the States when the crime happened. We thought that it was just a show; that Erap would let Hubert escape after a month. But it never happened.

To date, Hubert’s camp is requesting to revisit the case. I wonder why the NBI did not safekeep the semen samples when they knew from the start that they need to be extra careful on this since the Vizconde massacre is no ordinary case.

It has been two decades and still there is no real peace of mind……

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) The Supreme Court acquitted Hubert Webb and five others for the murders of Estrellita Vizconde, and daughters Carmela and Jennifer, its spokesman said Tuesday.

Webb is the son of former senator Freddie Webb.

“The Supreme Court found inconsistencies in the evidence of the prosecution,” lawyer Midas Marquez said on radio.

He said aside from Webb, Antonio “Tonyboy” Lejano, Michael Gatchalian, Hospicio “Pyke” Fernandez, Peter Estrada and Miguel “Ging” Rodriguez and three others were cleared by the high tribunal.

    Career, Finance & Product

    Advantages:
    1. I get to practice my business administration skill.
    2. I get to travel to places to look for potential customers.
    3. I have more time to bond with Miel.
    4. It feels good to see your product on the market.
    5. It feels good to provide employment to those who are unemployed. (Miel is a generous employer, mind you!)

    Disadvantages:
    1. This start up stage is sucking out all our energies.
    2. Start up stage is the most difficult, financially speaking.
    3. There would be people who would try to pull you down. Keber!
    4. Less time to bond with kids. Buti na lang may KFC!

    Money. Money. Money.
Our goal is simple: We want financial independence because we want to help more people.

  • Oral B Baby Toothbrush

    November 22, 2010
    Career, Finance & Product

With Adi’s eight baby teeth, he needs to brush his teeth as regular as adults are doing. It’s quite a challenge to brush a 14-month old’s teeth and he doesn’t like the taste of kiddie toothpaste.

Dr. Anna suggested to change his toothbrush and toothpaste because hard bristles and strong flavor might be the reasons why a baby won’t brush his teeth. I checked his musical toothbrush and pressed the bristles. True, it was hard and it probably hurt his gums.

I brought Adi to the grocery and showed him a variety of Oral B toothbrush. He picked the orange toothbrush, it was made of rubber so it wouldn’t slip when wet. Dr. Anna said that Adi could use Xylogel as toothpaste instead of a kiddie toothpaste.

As soon as we got home, I tried brushing Adi’s teeth with Oral B and my little one just loved it! Oral B’s bristles are soft and ideal for babies. When it comes to toothbrush, you’ll never have a hard time brushing your kid’s teeth with Oral B.;)

  • Jinkee J. Pacquiao

    http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=469807&publicationSubCategoryId=70

I found this old article about Jinkee Pacquiao. So little is published about her personal life and I hope to see more articles about her minus her being a wife to Manny Pacquaio.

Jinkee was most controversial when Manny was linked with Ara Mina and Krista Ranillo. She got the public’s sympathy when she decided to keep her marriage and not allow anybody to ruin it.

Jinkee’s taste in luxury bags and clothes was at one time, a subject of debate among bloggers. Is it wrong to buy expensive things and flaunt it? For as long as the Pacquiaos give back or share their blessings, I don’t care if Jinkee is buying a truckload of Hermes or Fendi everyday!

Her being a Belo endorser was her biggest break; it was Jinkee trying to shift from being a pretty wife of a champion boxer to being a celebrity.

I hope to see more independence and empowerment on Jinkee. She’s smart, pretty and intelligent. She can always shine on her own.
