• I Am Not A Good “SPORTS” ;p

    Life & Love

    http://kaasikid.blogspot.com/2010/06/mga-sports-na-dapat-pag-aralan.html

I can’t really say that I love sports so to the sports enthusiasts, bear with my comments on Kaasikid’s post. (see the link above)

    1) basketball – for sure me pa liga sa barangay, skul or company nyo. andami din basketball court sa bawat kanto ng pinas. madami din umiidolo kay jordan, kobe bryant, lebron at iba pang nba star. sa pinas me pba at pbl at sa uaap/ncaa super sikat ang basketball. exciting panoorin ang basketball. ang basketball player malaki sahod. d best cguro bata palang ienrol na sa milo basketball clinic pag summer.
Iris says: Funny but the basketball players that I know of are Alvin Patrimonio, Robert Jaworski, Jerry Codiñera and Bong Alvarez. I wouldn’t be aware that there’s a James Yap if not for Kris Aquino, Marc Pingris if not for Danica Sotto and Rommel Adducul who happened to be Assunta de Rossi’s ex-bf. While most of my officemates are hoping that they’ll be given free tickets to watch the basketball game in Araneta (our company is one of the sponsors), I am hoping that I’ll be given at least discount cards to Belo or Calayan. Lol! I had a chance encounter with Alvin Patrimonio in Subic Duty Free when he was promoting Nike shoes there. That was in 2002 or 2003. I wouldn’t notice that he was Alvin if not for the other customers who said it was him.

    2) volleyball – magagamit mo to sa beach. ang pinas ay 7107 islands. high tide or low tide. saka ung mundo majority napapaligiran ng tubig so marami din beach. minsan naman cguro sa buhay mo pupunta ka sa beach. iba di ba ung dating pag astig ka sa beach volleyball.
Iris says: I was in 6th grade when out of the blue, I decided to be part of the district volleyball team. There was a try out and I informed my supposed team mates that I would be available every afternoon for the practice. They never bothered to tell me where they were practicing. I practiced alone and noticed that the sport was not really for me. I didn’t have strong arms and the ball bruised my arms.

    3) billiards – eto eh larong pang tambay daw. siguro dati un pero ngaun isa to sa ok na hobby. magagamit mo naman to pag tumambay kau sa gimikan. usually me billiard table. kung gusto mo kumita pwede ka rin makipagpustahan. bakit hindi na lang dart? ano ba ung astig? me dala kang tako na para kang ninja na me nakasukbit na samurai blade or me parang maliit na makeup kit na dala?
Iris says: Billiards was my pastime in college. I was the only girl in a company of engineering boys who were very much willing to teach me the do’s and don’ts of the game.

    4) chess – eto eh more on mental focus and strategy. mahahasa utak mo sa pag diskarte. so kahit mahina katawan mo kaya mo naman siguro pagalawin ung pyesa. magagamit mo din to pag nag aantay ka sa barberya at pwede ka mag miron. wag ka lang sasali dun sa nagsosolb ng chess puzzle tapos me taya. mga scammer un. bakit hindi dama? gusto mo ba maglaro na tansan or takip ng bote ang pyesa?
Iris says: My youngest brother beat me at this when he was six years old. My first crush in high school was a champion at it. I admire people who are good in chess.

Iris says: I used to carry a small balisong when I was in Gapo. Proteksyon lang. Kaso nung mapadaan ako sa metal detector sa Wistron, katakot-takot na paliwanag bakit may balisong ako sa bulsa ng pants. Hehehehe….

  • Admitting Our Mistakes

    Career, Finance & Product

I admit my mistakes, do you?

It isn’t fatal to admit your mistakes so why are you so defensive?

It’s just work! The bosses will understand if we did some typo errors or let’s say, STUPID error!

Don’t consume your time blaming others! Especially if that person is admitting her mistake!

    Grow up, boy!

  • The Restroom is My Spa

    June 10, 2010
    Wedding & Family Life

I barely have time to go to the spa to have a much needed aromatherapy back scrub or facial so I decided that I’ll bring at least my facial mask to the office. Being a mom (and wife) consumes much of my time at home; there’s no break for that. At the office, I take advantage of the 60-minute breaktime to go to the restroom and apply my beauty creams and mask while self-massaging my scalp. I started this routine last Monday. Believe me, it helps in decreasing my stress level at work. It’s also good to have officemates who are vain; they’ll understand why I need to do this routine.

I have every reason to stay attractive in the eyes of my husband. First, it’s a wife’s obligation to stay attractive. Second, Miel is five years my junior. Pangit naman if he looks like my kid brother instead of my husband, no!

  • How To Be Handsome?

    http://kaasikid.blogspot.com/2010/06/pano-gumawapo-or-pumogi.html

Take a look at the link above. Don’t you think that I need to answer that or at least have my own version of that?

    1) Maligo – gumamit ng safeguard professional clean
Iris says: Kaasikid, that Safeguard is correlated to being a family soap. If you want to smell shower fresh, then buy some musky-scented soap. I would even recommend Dial instead of Safeguard.
    2) Magsipilyo – gumamit ng colgate professional clean
Iris says: Colgate, just like Safeguard, is a family toothpaste. Try something different like Aquafresh.
    3) Mag cologne/pabango – ung light lang ang dating at hindi amoy tanders. wag mag axe common na to.
Iris says: I so agree that Axe is overrated. I would even pick Afficionado over it. I had a highschool classmate who wore Drakkar Noir. I wonder why this perfume is not so popular here when it’s the most masculine-smelling scent for me.
    4) Magdamit ng maayos – di kelangan branded. basta malinis, plantsado at bagay sau. ung presentable. wag ka na magdark colors kung maitim ka na.
Iris says: Agree. Light colors complement dark skin. I love men who wear yellow. Light-skinned men, I mean. I am never impressed with people who wear signature clothes. I am impressed with people who wear well-pressed clothes. (Because I rarely iron my clothes! Lol!)
    5) Magpagupit ng clean cut – oo cool ang long hair pero me mukhang mabaho. clean cut para malinis tingnan at mukhang mabango
Iris says: Long hair is okay as long as the guy keeps it in a pony tail. I also admire skinheads.
    6) Mag ahit – oo cool din ang me bigote.pero mas bata kang tingnan at mas malinis pag bagong ahit. kaya nga me sinasabing ahit pogi.
Iris says: A little masculinity is what I want so I don’t prefer men who shave. But I don’t prefer bearded guys, too. A little goatee will do. 😉
    7) Magsuot ng relo – para on time ka parati. simpleng relo lang na metal or leather watch na bagay sa getup. wag ka mag accessories ng iba like hikaw kwintas or singsing.
Iris says: I love men who wear earrings!
    8) Magsuot ng maayos na sapatos – kung leather i shine. wag naman kintab sekyu. ung tama lang. kung sneakers basta malinis tingnan. hindi ung tipong pang rocker or emo na madumi or me putik.
Iris says: I love men who wear clean shoes!

  • Family Over Career

    June 8, 2010
    Life & Love

I have a good relationship with my boss. I respect him a lot for his wisdom and genuine concern for his subordinates. What makes me admire him more is his broadmindedness when it comes to allowing his subordinates to prioritize family issues over career.

I texted him last night to inform him that I would be reporting to work at 10AM the following day because I needed to bring my baby to the pediatrician. Not every boss could be as reachable as him. Thanks, boss!

The reason why I had to bring Adi again to his pedia was because I PANICKED a lot for him last night. The baby sitter was not patient enough to feed him or even give him water or electrolyte. In short, Adi was dehydrated. Adi’s eyes were sunken, his skin was pale and he was literally a vegetable when I arrived home. I didn’t know that tonsilitis could cause diarrhea. Cefalexin did not help much and Adi didn’t find the oral rehydration solution appealing.

This morning, I didn’t entertain much calls and texts from the office. I had to be there for Adi. He was cranky at the clinic and his rashes were all over his torso. When discomfort comes, it pours! How it breaks my heart to see my little angel suffering!

I have trust in Dr. Anna and the good Lord that Adi shall be okay within the day. Oh, by the way, I prayed so hard last night that Adi would have a sound sleep and he had one! God works in mysterious ways. I love you, God!

  • Mommy’s Little Angel

    June 7, 2010
    Life & Love

Baby Adi is sick since Thursday night. Mommy has been very worried about him. 40 degrees celsius is something that won’t make me calm and comfortable.

We brought him to the pedia last Saturday. The pedia suggested to test Adi’s urine for UTI. It took us an hour to make Adi pee. The lab result showed that it was not UTI. So the doctor diagnosed that it must be tonsilitis as his tonsils were red and swollen.

She prescribed antibiotics and paracetamol. Adi had moderate fever until Sunday afternoon. Until now, he has not yet regained his strength and it’s breaking mommy’s heart.

Working moms like me could only pray and monitor the baby through text/call. I love you, Adi and please get well soon.

  • To Have or Not To Have a Facebook Account?

    June 4, 2010
    Life & Love

I had a brief chat with Nur, my Turkish friend who I have not communicated with for ages. He was the 36th person who asked me if I have a Facebook account. I told him that I don’t have one and I am still on the process of thinking if I need one. My Friendster account is inactive and I unsubscribed to Linkedin just last week. It’s only this blog that keeps me active online.

Nur said that while he was away aboard a ship, he had no opportunity to connect online and he even forgot the blogging site that he used to blog to. We share the same opinion that Facebook and Friendster have substituted the conventional way of communicating with friends. Instead of paying a visit, writing a letter or even making a call, Friendster and Facebook users just click on their friend’s page to check on how their friend is doing.

It’s good to make us of technology to connect with friends easier. But it’s still better to make that connection a little more personal by letting your friend know that you are sincere and your friendship is beyond online.
