    Life & Love

  • I So Need A Facial!

    May 28, 2010
    Life & Love

Luckily, I’m not prone to pimples but I am not impressed with my skin these days. Sometimes, my face gets too oily and sometimes, tight and dry. Okay, it must be the hormones but Yasmin (pills) promises a smoother skin—something must be wrong with my body! Blame that on lack of sleep. Blame that on pollution. Blame that on STRESS!

It’s been almost six months since I had my last facial. With a demanding job and a cute baby that I always want by my side, getting a facial or having a hair cut is a luxury.

I need a new look. I need to lose some weight. But most importantly, I so need a facial! Not that the age difference between Miel and I is showing, I just want to be a little more flawless in Miel’s loving eyes. 😉

  • I Remember The Boy…But Not The Feelings

    May 25, 2010
    Life & Love

    I remember the boy…
    But I don’t remember the feelings anymore…

It’s a Joey Albert song and it applies to me. It’s been weeks now since I always dream of my ex-boyfriend. The dream was not sweet; it left me hurt feelings when I wake up. I don’t hate the guy and I never hated him for all the bad things that he did to me. I don’t know if I am just too forgiving or I just loved him that much.

I can’t remember of a single incident that he said he’ll love me forever.

I can’t remember the good times with him.

I can’t remember how I used to feel for him, his favorites and so on.

But why am I dreaming of him lately?

I looked at the calendar….today is supposed to be our

    10th anniversary.

That explains the dreams. Maybe my subconscious is

telling me that many years ago, I was with him. And I was

happy with him a long time ago. I can’t remember his face.

I can’t remember much of him. Maybe I never really loved

him. Maybe what happened then was just an obsession.

Because I don’t remember falling in love with him….in the

    truest sense of the word…..

  • My Precioussss!

    May 21, 2010
    Life & Love

    I almost lost my precious.

I looked at it in my cabinet but it was not there.

I opened the jewelry box but only the earrings were there.

I searched on it on top of the refrigerator where my husband

usually puts his precious but it was not also there.

I knew I would be late at work if I continued finding for it but

who cares? It was not about my precious’s price that made

    me panicked that much.

This wedding ring symbolizes everything between me and Miel.

    The love at first sight….

The friendship that turned into a beautiful relationship….

The engagement after a month of going steady…..

The wedding that only the two of us prepared…..

I almost gave up finding my precious.

I picked up the 50 peso-bill on the bed.

Something dropped on the floor……….the ring! My precious!

I kissed the ring out of my great relief.

My precious is still with me.

I hope it stays with me as long as I live.

  • I’m a Big Fan of Mr. Colayco!

    May 13, 2010
    Life & Love

Mr. Francisco Colayco, if you are reading this, I’d like you to know that I’m a BIG fan of yours! Your book, “Pera Mo Palaguin Mo” is entertaining and the financial tips are easy to follow.

I came across Mr. Colayco’s column by chance when I got addicted to Bulgar. Call me jologs, call me jejemon, call me whatever adjective you want but yours truly indeed got addicted to that tabloid. Off topic, I’m fascinated and at times, irritated by Cristy Fermin’s column there.

Mr. Colayco writes for Bulgar about financial tips. He also writes for Good Housekeeping on a similar topic. You’ve got to get a copy of his books, you won’t get bored and you’ll easily understand what the gentleman is talking about.

Mr. Colayco, here are among your tips that I followed:
    1. I’ve cut my Mabuhay Miles Credit card last March 2010 because as you say, credit card interests are the highest. Imagine that 3.5% interest rate per month!
    2. I learned to differentiate NEEDS from WANTS. I WANT a BIG house but do I NEED one? I WANT the latest model of cellphone but do I NEED one?
    3. I learned to live beyond my means.
    4. My husband and I are religiously saving 20% of our income and we are hoping that someday, we could invest it to create a PASSIVE income.

I don’t dream of being RICH. I just want a comfortable life that I can enjoy and let’s be frank, money has a big role in our life. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. I love to be financially independent so that I can extend help to more people. Aint that a noble reason to dream of financial independence? 😉

  • Yellow Wins!

    May 12, 2010
    Life & Love

From the partial result of the 2010 Elections in the Philippines, Benigno Simeon Aquino III is leading.

Expect a lot of yellows on his proclamation day.

Expect his four sisters standing behind him on that day. (Please give Ms. Ballsy more camera exposure; she looks good onscreen. Maybe even better in person.)

Expect a lot of showbiz-related interviews on Kris Aquino. Wait, is she going to leave the country once Noy is proclaimed? I remember that she vowed to leave the country and live anywhere there is TFC once Noy wins. Can she afford to leave James Yap behind? Is James willing to sacrifice his basketball career for Kris?

Shalani Soledad is leading on the Sangguniang Panglunsod race on the 2nd district of Valenzuela. Is Kris willing to share the spotlight with Shalani?

It’s lonely to be living alone in Malacañang without a pretty lady by your side, President Noy. Is tying the knot with Shalani part of your 6-year plan? (Nikki Prieto-Teodoro would make a lovely first lady, too. Too bad, Gibo didn’t make it!)

Is President Noy willing to stop whatever issues his family have with the Marcoses? Who will throw the first stone this time?

What could be President Noy’s stand on the issues faced by the Arroyo administration? What would be his priority projects to improve the economy of the Philippines. GMA left a huge task for the next president. It won’t be an easy job, President Noy!

  • My Election Experience

    May 11, 2010
    Life & Love

Yesterday was my first time to vote as a member of INC. It was a major adjustment on my part because it was my first time to vote with a sample ballot—that sample ballot contained the list of candidates that our church decided to endorse.

During the past elections, it was my father who decides who to endorse. We had some disagreements in the past with regard to his choice of candidates and we, as his children, felt compelled to accept his choices. My father did not mention any candidate of his choice a day before the election but he borrowed my sample ballot and did not make any harsh comments on it.

It was the first automated election in Philippine history. I was there at the precint at 6:20 AM. The teachers were somewhat tensed, some members of the media were checking every details. The clustered precints resulted to a long queue of voters. I was lucky because I was early; I finished early.

I saw familiar faces at the precint. They recognized me, too and teased me that I gained weight. I saw the old library where I used to make my assignments. I saw the school grounds where we held our Girl Scout-related activities. I saw the big old trees where we used to play. I saw the major changes in my school.

Mesmerized as I was walking through the school grounds, I remembered what I went home for: the election. I was hoping that I would not see those familiar faces—faces that correlate with POLITICS. I may be of zero political value to some but of big political value to those who view INC endorsement as a sure ball way to win the election.
